The power of juicing

I came across the concept of juicing when I found an online video of Kris Carr, New York Times best-selling author. The first thing I thought was “why didn’t I hear about this before?”

The concept is simple: Make green juice (and drink it too). Get fresh vegetables and some fruits, juice them and drink them.

A glass of green juice helps to clean your body of toxins and stored wastes. On the other hand, it gives you tons of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, phytonutrients and antioxidants.

Juicing probably is not healthier than eating whole fruits and vegetables. But, if you don’t enjoy eating them fresh or you feel that you don’t eat enough of them, this could be a great way to add more quantity and variety to your daily veggie intake. Whether you are vegan, vegetarian or just trying to live a healthier life this could be a simple way to add more raw food into your diet.

Now, drinking green juice is the foundation of my breakfast. The results: I feel lighter, more energetic and overall healthier.

A basic recipe for a 30 oz. green juice:
1 large cucumber (peeled if not organic)
1 big fist full of kale
1 big fist full of spinach
5 big leaves of romaine lettuce
2 stalks of celery
1 broccoli stem
1 green apple
1 pear
1 lemon
1 orange
A pinch of ginger

I know it doesn’t sound tasty but it will surprise you once you try it. It is really good. And feel free to change any ingredient, experiment and adjust to your taste.

Hopefully you will be able to incorporate this raw vegan juice into your daily routine and enjoy the benefits of juicing. And don’t keep it a secret, spread the word!

Please consult your doctor or nutritionist if you are planning to use juicing for dietary purposes or as a meal replacement.
