"inspirational quote" - joy of beginning

In his book, “Force of Nature”, the world’s greatest big wave surfer speaks about the joy of being a beginner. Whether surfing, eating better, practicing yoga, new hobby, or even taking on a new project, it can’t be accomplished without taking the first step. Here are Hamilton’s thoughts on why it’s good to be bad:

“… People don’t want to try new things if they think they’re going to be bad at them. The tendency is to say, ‘I haven’t done that, I don’t need to do that, I’m not good at that. You guys go on ahead.’

But the truth is, you have to be willing to subject yourself to failure, to be bad at something, to fall on your butt and do it again, and try stuff you’ve never done. That’s the ideal mind-set in sports and in life … you need to keep challenging yourself… it forces your mind to engage.”
